First Woman In US To Undergo Uterine Transplant Comes Forward.

The first US uterine transplant failed due to an undisclosed complication in the early postoperative period. This procedure has been successful in Sweden where several babies have been born and pregnancies are currently ongoing. In years past this was often bantered around among Reproductive Endocrinologists as pie in the sky, it does appear that this is a viable treatment option. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the patient and family who underwent this procedure in South Florida. The process is arduous and the lack of success is devastating for everyone involved. The physicians and medical center have put in several years worth of prep work in prior to this first attempt. We hope that the patient does ultimately find success in the quest of having a baby.
