I am always amazed when I ask patients if doctors have talked to them about nutrition or losing weight.  More than half report no.  I think many doctors feel like I did 15 years ago, just wearied of the discussion that never yielded lasting results.  This is because the low fat, low calorie, low cholesterol diet is not sustainable and the thousands of people who try it repetitively fail.  After years of recommending this I discovered the low carb high fat diet that is very sustainable and fulfilling as a nutritional approach.  So some of us out there are discussing nutrition and weight loss (metabolic improvement) with our patients!!
