► In July of 2007, Dr. Christopher Lipari joined our practice. Trained at John's Hopkins, he came to our practice with an excellent training background in all aspects of Reproductive Medicine and Reproductive Surgery. He passed his oral boards Spring '09 which is a great accomplishment given that this exam has the lowest pass rate of all the OB/GYN subspecialties. Over his time with us, we are excited that he shares our commitment to excellent patient care, putting forth the extra effort necessary to provide you the patient with best we have to offer. Additionally, his approaches to patient care problems are similar to Dr. Fox's, allowing for a very consistent approach to patient care. As a team approach we try to meet all patients during their evaluation phase so that they are comfortable should they be seen by either of us on weekends or for emergencies. As a result of our growth, we have added two highly skilled nurse practitioners, and an infertility RN to further assist our patients.
► March of 2008 marked a pivotal time for JCRM when we moved our southside location to our new Southpoint office at 7051 Southpoint Parkway. We are conveniently located directly across from St. Lukes Hospital in the Vista South Building. During the
design phase of our space, great attention was placed on creating a soothing personal environment for patients, blending medical needs with the atmosphere of a home. Our hope is for the office environment to alleviate some of the inherent stress in fertility care. On the first floor of the Vista South Building is Southpoint Surgery Center, a state of the art outpatient surgery facility. This convenience has allowed us to control and design the finest Laparoscopic Surgical Unit in Jacksonville, just downstairs. The immediate availability of MD anesthesia here has allowed us to offer the safest environment for patients undergoing IVF egg retrieval as opposed to in-office retrieval with Nurse Anesthesia.
► As of March 2009, we are incorporating Infertility counseling services into our practice. Dustyn Williams, MA is new to Jacksonville but has specialized training in infertility counseling. She is very energetic and is most interested in improving fertility outcomes while maintaining emotional health for our couples. She has also has training in general psychology which allows her to address depression, and relational problems that often affect our patients. JCRM under the direction of Dustyn, will offer stress reduction group classes as well as individual couple sessions. We encourage all our fertility patients to take advantage of this novel service. Please refer to our Mind/Body section for more details.

► As the recession deepens we are seeing that more and more patients have been unable to proceed with IVF services when needed. We are proud to announce, In keeping with our firm commitment to patient care. that we have designed a number of creative lower cost options for IVF that differ from the traditional approach including in house financing options. These new prices and programs will be available in our September IVF cycle. The specifics and costs of these programs will be up on the website soon!!
► Referral Hysterosalpingogram Services (HSG). With our convenient surgical center facility downstairs, patients who are undergoing evaluation with their primary OB/GYN and need an HSG can now have this performed at our by our specially trained nurse practitioners in our center without being seen as a patient in our office. We provide this service in order to offer the finest diagnostic HSG services available with reports that will give accurate and informative results to the primary physician in order to allow the most efficient direction in a patient's care. Often if done in radiology, the only information in the report is tubes open or closed. With our physicians who have years of experience in reading HSG's, interpreting the tests, the primary doctor will receive a great deal more information and direction when the test is not perfectly normal. Our hope also is to avoid the necessity of repeating such tests if patients are referred to ours or other reproductive medicine practices.
In addition our Nurse practitioner's are very skilled at performing the procedure with a minimum of discomfort. This is often not the case for radiologists who infrequently are confronted with HSG's. One of our MD's are able to watch the procedure as it happens and can direct additional pictures as needed for a complete study.
► Tubal anastamosis or reversal procedures have been traditionally done as an open procedure with a larger incision. In Jan 2009, after the development of specialized instrumentation, we began performing laparoscopic tubal reversal. This allows for minimally invasive surgery and quick recovery. We now have several ongoing pregnancies and have several HSG tests demonstrating open tubes. This is very exciting and confirms our belief that the laparoscopic procedure will be just as successful as the open procedure.
► Low Carbohydrate Cruise. The cruise left Jacksonville in March 2010. There were 85 attendees including MD's, scientists, Dr. Atkins' long time nurse who still works in the metabolic field, exercise physiologists, vendors, and people interested in learning more about the science and the process. This was an incredibly informative and enjoyable time for everyone involved. Unfortunately Dr. Fox was sick and on antihistamines during his video interview. Dr. Eenfeldt has a wonderful blog and it can be translated by google translator which does a reasonable job. Sweden has progressed a great deal further than the US towards a healthier nutritional environment.
► Robotic Surgery. Dr.'s Fox and Lipari visited Atlanta recently to work with Dr. Ceana Nezhat. He and his brothers are leaders in the field of laparoscopic surgery for endometriosis. Dr. Nezhat has recently added Robotic Surgery to his practice and the trip was intended to learn the utility of this technique in Reproductive Surgery. The Robot has been recently introduced to help surgeons do more difficult laparoscopic procedures such as Myomectomy, Tubal Reversal, and Endometriosis etc. Dr.'s Fox and Lipari have been performing these laparoscopic procedures for 12 years utilizing traditional laparoscopy and hence don't "need" the robot to accomplish these surgeries. There are very complicated cases that currently take hours to complete laparoscopically. It is our hope that the robot, a tool to improve visualization and ease of operation could diminish the time to perform the most complicated of cases. The Dr.'s had a great visit and Dr. Fox and Lipari will be adding robotics to their approach this fall for selected cases. More to follow............
