Study Finds Association Between Early Childbirth And Worse Health In Midlife.

January 4, 2016

These results are not surprising. If we view pregnancy for what it does to the metabolic system, these results would be expected. In a high carbohydrate environment, the insulin resistance associated with pregnancy advances metabolic disease dramatically. Pregnancy induced hypertension, gestational diabetes and weight gain in pregnancy are all part of this process. So if pregnancy occurs early, the damage to the metabolic system has more time to snowball into poor health. Without the acceleration of pregnancy, the older person has not suffered this insult and later pregnancy will have a lessor effect. This study merely adds more evidence to the growing story of carbohydrate toxicity.
